Los Angeles is one of the world’s most powerful creative capitals—and with our campus right in Hollywood, students can experience the city’s energy, access, and opportunity before they even graduate.

Over the course of a semester, students take courses, pursue internships, and connect with alumni and industry leaders shaping the future of media and entertainment. Designed for students ready to move from “someday” to “right now,” our program gives them the credits, contacts, and confidence to start building their creative careers.

Live, Work, and Study in Hollywood

Spend a full semester or summer session at Emerson Los Angeles, earning credit while gaining hands-on experience in one of the world’s most competitive creative markets.

On Location

At Emerson Los Angeles, students live and learn under the same roof. Our award-winning, purpose-built facility is located right in the heart of Hollywood, and features residential suites, classrooms,  performance and rehearsal studios, a fitness center, and gathering spaces to build community between classes, internships, and everything LA has to offer.

Industry Connections

Emerson’s LA network runs deep. We’ve had a physical presence here for 40+ years, and over 4,500 alumni call the region home.

Here, students connect with alumni, faculty, visiting professionals, and internship supervisors working across film, television, comedy, journalism, publishing, public relations, sports media, and more.

That access helps students understand how the industry works, where they might fit, and what it takes to move from student work to professional opportunity.

Alumni Spotlight

  • Stefani Robinson ’14

    Screenwriter and Producer

    From Emerson stages and writers’ rooms to Emmy-nominated television and feature films, Stefani Robinson has built a career by combining sharp comedic instincts, disciplined storytelling, and a willingness to create opportunities where none existed. 

  • Discovering Comedy

    Robinson came to Emerson as a screenwriting student and immersed herself in creative communities including RareWorks and The Girlie Project. The collaborative energy she found on campus helped confirm that comedy was where she belonged.

  • Learning the Business

    Early internships gave Robinson her first look inside professional writers’ rooms. At Emerson Los Angeles, she interned at the Gersh Agency, where she learned the business side of entertainment, built industry relationships, and was offered a full-time position before graduation.

  • Creating Her Opening

    Even while working full-time, Robinson continued writing constantly. After a Gersh colleague connected her with representation, a pilot script she wrote caught the attention of industry executives and ultimately opened the door to her first major television writing opportunity.

  • Joining the Room

    Robinson’s big break came when Donald Glover hired her to write for Atlanta. As the youngest writer and only woman in the room, she helped shape one of television’s most acclaimed comedies while earning Writers Guild recognition and establishing herself as a rising voice in comedy.
