Shape the Media Landscape
Media industries shape how stories are produced, distributed, and consumed around the world. Emerson’s Media Industries MA explores the business, culture, and impact of today’s global media landscape, while teaching you how industries evolve alongside audiences, technology, and creative practices. Designed for both recent graduates and working professionals, the program combines market analysis with practical, project-based learning that connects theory to real-world media challenges.
The 12-month curriculum begins with core courses that introduce you to the methods, frameworks, and questions that drive media industries research. From there, you’ll tailor your studies through courses focused upon areas such as media production, distribution, exhibition, curation, and consulting. As the program progresses, you will choose a capstone project that aligns with your passions: a major research project, an internship, a professional portfolio project, or advanced coursework. By graduation, you’ll leave with specialized expertise, a substantial body of work, and a deeper understanding of the forces shaping the future of media.
