Great marketing starts with understanding people. Emerson’s Marketing Communication BS program combines consumer insight, strategic thinking, creativity, and analytics to prepare students to solve real business challenges through communication. You’ll learn how organizations connect with audiences, build brands, execute data-driven campaigns, and create meaningful client relationships.
Throughout the program, you’ll study the foundations of marketing communication, including consumer behavior, messaging, media strategy, market research, and integrated campaign development. Housed in the Department of Strategic Marketing & Business , courses emphasize both creative and critical thinking, teaching you how to identify opportunities, solve marketing problems, and translate audience insights into actionable strategies. As you progress through the major, you’ll develop skills in professional communication, presentation, collaboration, and ethical decision-making.
You’ll gain hands-on experience working with real organizations in courses throughout the program and in your senior capstone project, as well as through co-curriculars such as EC Agency, Emerson’s student-run marketing agency. You can also participate in the Emerson Experience in Entrepreneurship Studies (E3) and complete internships with agencies, nonprofits, healthcare organizations, and leading brands throughout Boston and beyond. By graduation, you’ll leave with a portfolio of strategic and creative work, experience solving real marketing challenges, professional connections, and the skills to lead marketing and communication efforts in a rapidly evolving industry.
