Journalism is constantly evolving. Emerson’s graduate Journalism and Media Innovation program will prepare you to become a pioneer in modern-day storytelling, staying ahead of industry changes.Through hands-on coursework, you’ll learn multimedia storytelling, interviewing, audience engagement, data-driven reporting, and emerging approaches to news and media production.
Housed in the Department of Journalism, the flexible online program combines core journalism fundamentals with electives in areas such as digital publishing, entrepreneurship, leadership, design, and community engagement. Along the way, you’ll receive one-on-one mentorship from experienced journalists and media professionals while building a portfolio of work that prepares you for careers in journalism, communication, content creation, and independent media.

Complete your degree in one year full-time, or two years part-time. If you have an undergraduate degree in journalism, or you’re a professional with 5+ years of journalism experience, you can waive 4 credits, completing the degree with 28 credits.
