African American culture has a story worth telling: one that includes multiple narrative threads that span the communities, cultures, and ethnicities of Africa and the African Diaspora. Housed in the Marlboro Institute for Liberal Arts and Interdisciplinary Studies, the African American and Africana Studies minor will give you the chance to critically study the intersecting dimensions of race, privilege, and oppression in your own life and community.

To complete this minor, you’ll take one core course and choose three electives from a range of topics, such as Black Revolutionary Thought; Harlem Renaissance; Postcolonial Cultures; and Space, Race, and Power.
